Since its launch as an entirely free-to-play game in October 2015, Shopkins: Welcome to Shopville has leveraged the extraordinary brand power of the Shopkins line of toys and racked up over 9 million users with $0 spent on user acquisition.

From its initial remit as a marketing piece to support the brand, to a licensed and monetised free-to-play mobile game, the product has gone through a huge number of changes in its short life.

Product Lead Ella Macintyre will chart the transformation of the game and detail all the lessons learned from publishing in the children’s mobile gaming market, advice for working with a licensor and the opportunities available for other small developers to stand on “the shoulders of giants” and take advantage of similar licensing opportunities.
